Dr.
Jerry A. Smith is a senior level executive in commercial
enterprise software and services, with a proven success record
in all phases of strategic and operational management. He
is uniquely effective in the identification of technical
and business problems, initiating change, and implementing
processes that produce results. Dr. Smith also has a unique
ability to motivate others in the achievement of individual
and organizational goals with emphasis on teamwork and cross-organization
cooperation.
Dr. Smith joined IPR International in 2002 as Chief Technology
Officer (CTO) and Vice President of Engineering, a position
established to play a strategic role in fueling the company’s
growth and supporting their groundbreaking services in operational resiliency, data protection, and disaster recovery. As primary technology strategist
and visionary for IPR, Dr. Smith charts the company’s technology
course by identifying emerging technologies and market trends,
and aligning current progress with future goals. Dr. Smith
is the chief architect from many of IPR’s new recovery architectures.
Dr. Smith has specialized in enterprise object-oriented
technology, software development, and knowledge and artificial
intelligent systems for more than 18 years. Before coming
to IPR, he was the CTO at SCT, a global company that provided
enterprise software solutions for higher education, utilities,
process manufacturing, and government. Dr. Smith was also
the CTO for Semaphore, a global consulting, training, and
publishing firm specializing in object-oriented technology.
In addition, He has held senior technology positions with
Xerox; Sales Technologies, a Dun & Bradstreet Company;
and KPMG. Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Masters of
Science degrees in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern
University, and his Bachelor of Science degree from California
State Polytechnic University. He is also a former U.S. Naval
Pilot and Navy Nuclear Power Submarine Officer.
