Biographical Information:

Dr. Yair Levy is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. He joined the school as an assistant professor in 2003 and was promoted to an associate professor in 2007. Prior to joining the school, Dr. Levy was instructor and director of online learning at the College of Business Administration at Florida International University. During the mid to late 1990s, Dr. Levy assisted NASA to develop e-learning platforms as well as manage Internet and web infrastructures. He earned his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). He received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration and Ph.D. in MIS from Florida International University. His current research interests include security issues with e-learning systems, cognitive value of information technology (IT) and e-learning systems, effectiveness of information and e-learning systems. Dr. Levy is the author of Assessing the Value of e-Learning Systems (2006). His research publications appear in the Journal of Organizational and End User Computing (JOEUC), Journal of Cases on Information Technology (JCIT), International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector (IJISSS), Journal of Information Systems Education (JISE), Informing Science Journal (ISJ), The Internet and Higher Education (IHE), journal of Computers & Education, the International Journal of Information and Communications Technology Education (IJICTE), Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce (JIBC), as well as in several refereed conference proceedings. Additionally, he published an invited chapter for Distance Learning and University Effectiveness book as well as in the Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology and the Encyclopedia of Online Learning and Technology. Dr. Levy is the recipient of the IJICTE 1(3) Editor's Award of Excellence for his paper titled “A case study of management skills comparison in online and on-campus MBA programs”, the recipient of the Best Paper Award in InSITE 2006 conference, the Best Paper Award in InSITE 2008 conference, and the Best Paper Award in the Chais 2009 conference. He served as the executive chair of the technical program and proceedings committee for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2005 conference as well as a co-chair of the information systems track in the same conference. Dr. Levy was the editor of the Proceedings for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2005. Additionally, he chaired and co-chaired multiple sessions/tracks of his research area in recognized scientific conferences. Currently, Dr. Levy is serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Doctoral Studies (IJDS). Additionally, he is serving as an associate editor for the International Journal of Web-based Learning and Teaching Technologies (IJWLTT). Since 2006, he is serving as member of the executive and leadership team of the Informing Science Institute. Moreover, he is serving as a member of editorial review and/or advisory board of several referee journals such as the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Informing Science Journal, Journal of Cases on Information Technology (JCIT), the Journal of Information Technology Education (JITE),  as well as the International Journal of Digital Literacy and Digital Competence (IJDLDC). He's been serving as a member of the conference proceedings committee for several scholarly conferences. Moreover, Dr. Levy has been serving as a referee research reviewer for numerous national and international scientific journals, conference proceedings, as well as IT and information security textbooks. He is also a frequent speaker at national and international meetings on IT and online learning topics. Dr. Levy’s teaching interests and courses taught include management information systems, system analysis and design, information systems security, e-commerce, Web development, telecommunications and networking, as well as enterprise architecture and infrastructure.
